What is daily fantasy sports?
In daily fantasy, you draft a lineup of real athletes within a salary cap or pick-style format and score points based on how those players perform in actual games. You compete against other users or against a target line, not against a sportsbook’s odds board. DFS is regulated differently from sports betting and is legal in many states where traditional sportsbooks are not.
DFS vs. sportsbooks vs. prediction markets
A sportsbook takes your bet at fixed odds. A prediction market matches you with other traders. DFS is a skill-based lineup contest. Because all three are distinct products with different rules, we keep them on separate pages, and never list non-sportsbook products beside licensed sportsbook brands.
Where Pick’em Players Went
With classic DFS pick’em products retreating from many states, most players have moved to two neighboring categories that run similar games under different rules. Sweepstakes sportsbooks like Fliff and Rebet offer pick-style play with real prize redemptions and work in most states, and prediction markets let you trade on game outcomes under federal oversight.
